Planning Your Boudoir Session

Curious about the process of planning your boudoir session? You’ve come to the right place.

This process has evolved over the years to create a space that is comfortable, consensual, and inspires confidence. My goal is for you to be at ease and feel like you have control over everything you’d like to have control over, and let go wherever you’d like to let go. I’m a firm believer that portraiture is a co-creation between the photographer and the subject. I am inspired by YOU, my subject, and what you think is hot. I will also be pulling inspiration from the way the light bounces off your skin, the shapes your body makes, and the beauty I see in you. Here’s how we get started.

  1. Send an inquiry- give me some details about your interest and inspiration for doing a session. The form will ask you for some important info and will give me everything I need to get in touch with you.

  2. You will receive an email response from me within 24-48 hours. I will reach out to set up a time for us have a video chat. This helps us work out all the details while also becoming comfortable with each other. If you don’t hear from me, check your spam!

  3. During our call I cover questions that will help us build a co-created session. I want this experience to be as personalized as possible. I ask questions concerning consent to make sure you feel you are being respected and honored during your session. This includes talking about specific language I use or don’t use during the session, your relationship to your body, we dig into what you think is hot, we talk outfits, how I can protect your privacy, and a few other details.

  4. After we agree we want to do the session, we pick a time and place. Typically that will be at the studio but I make house calls and love to do sessions outside. I have had clients book Air B&Bs and hotel rooms. Whatever we want to do! I will send over a contract. You look it over, ask questions if you have them and then electronically sign the contract. You’ll send a 50% retainer and you’re booked!

This contract helps protect us both. It covers very typical topics you will find in a photography contract. Something I always make a point to mention, the contract states that I have ownership of our images. However, your comfort and privacy is the most important to me. If you do not want your images on my website or socials, I will honor your request for privacy. If you’re comfortable with me sharing specific ones and not others, that is possible too. As much as I want to show off our work, your comfort is much more important to me.

5. We have our session.

We meet at the studio or our chosen location. I will play the music you told me you enjoy during our call, I show you the layout of the studio, and we look at the outfits and props you’ve brought with you.

I’ll be enthusiastically gassing you up, one of my favorite parts of the experience. I genuinely love getting to tell you how stunning you look. I’ll show you the images as we create so we both have confidence we’re on the same page. After our time, you head home or to treat yourself to lunch, feeling hotter than you’ve felt in ages.

6. I will deliver your digital gallery in 2-3 weeks.

This is where my process really differs from other boudoir photographers. I don’t require you to invest $1,000+ in a product package. I don’t require you to come back for a follow up session to select your images. I select all of the final images, based on how you were reacting to you the photos I show you during your session. I promise a minimum number of digital images (at least 25) that are yours to keep. I often deliver more-  I have a hard time getting rid of photos where you looked great, I’m not going to just keep those to myself!

If selecting your 10 “keepers” and investing $1-2k on printed images is the boudoir experience you’re looking for, by all means! Go get it!! If you can afford that, I have a few really great artists I’d suggest. I see this as a totally valid way of doing business but to be honest, I want to be affordable to more people. This is a luxury industry but I have personally seen how transformative and powerful this experience can be. I want it to be accessible for more folks with varying incomes.

6.5 (optional) If you would like to purchase products or prints through me, that’s fantastic! The quality is really great and there’s a huge product list. If you’d like to print elsewhere, there will be a fee to download the high-resolution files. The web-sized photos that are included with your session are perfect for online uses.

If you want to purchase products, you do that in your own time through the website, Pic-time, where I deliver your images. There’s no pressure from me to purchase more items but you will have my support if you’d like it.

7. I always want to hear from my clients and their reaction to their albums. It's my favorite part (clearly I can’t possibly choose a single favorite part of this process- I love it all so much)! Clients reach out either over email or text with their reaction and let me know if, or which photos, they are comfortable with me sharing. When my clients leave me a review I do a happy dance and make a sweet little graphic out of it.

I would love the chance to talk to you and hear your vision for your boudoir session. I look forward to talking with you and making you a into masterpiece!
